grc Switch Double Glazed 28mm units
This customer wanted the switchable glass to fit into a timber framed partition system for an office. The doors had toughened glass and the switch wires were fed through the timber door frame into the roof void. You always get a slight element of haze when viewed from an angle and you can just see it on one of the bits of glass. The privacy is very good as can be seen on the lower picture.

This customer wanted to reproduce the lattice affect on the windows, so rather than 6 individual panes and all of the associated wiring and connections required, we produced one panel and then the customers’ carpenter fitted the timber lattice framework ontop of the glass creating the same effect. I took the following photographs with the builders van the other side of the window so you can see how good the privacy affect is.
grc Switch Double Glazed 60 minute fire rated units.
This customer needed to have switchable glass fitted to some specialist security doors inside a secure hospital unit. The panels themselves had to be 60 minute fire rated using special glass. Many other switch glass manufacturers are not able to do this but we could.

All 5 panels were made to fit the timber frame by producing plywood templates
As descibed in the picture the problem with this project is that the timber frame was made to fit the opening, so there were no accurate drawings to form the glass panels. Plywood templates were made which were then sent to the manufacturer to be replicated exactly. The customer wanted to see the views out from his entrance hall without being encumbered by blinds, and yet have privacy when required.
The panels consisted of 28mm double glazed units with a low e coating on the outer pane to reduce heat gain within the lobby.
