  1. New: grc Servu Vertical

    January 15, 2013 by Antony

    grc Servu Vertical

The grc Servu is part of our grc Theme range of plumbed in radiators. The main theme of them is that you can individualise any of the radiators in the range by having any RAL or SP colour you like, so you can order one.

Any colour is available to make your radiator unique and to fit into any scheme that you design. What we like about this radiator is that many bathrooms are small and have odd shapes. They often have to hide stack pipes in the corners and by the time you have space for basins, baths and shower units there is not alot of space left. By using one of our clever space saving designs you can fit more into your bathroom. We have the one below which is the grc Servu, but also have grc Outside, grc Inside, grc Ladder, and the grc Servu corner ranges.

This radiator has two widths, 280mm and 430mm and two heights, 1700mm and 1900mm.  Outputs from 3251 BTU’s to 3593 BTU’s.

    by Antony

    grc Tenu Vertical

The grc Tenu is part of our grc Theme range of plumbed in radiators. The main theme of them is that you can individualise any of the radiators in the range by having any RAL or SP colour you like, so you can order one.

Any colour is available to make your radiator unique and to fit into any scheme that you design. The tubular design of this radiator is very different from the others in our range, and the double versions in both the vertical and horizontal have quite high outputs. There is also another version which is free standing in case you have a wall that cannot take the weight of a radiator. The horiztonal versions are great for fitting under windows. On this page we will concentrate on the vertical versions. Prices from £684 including vat and delivery.

This radiator has three widths, 290mm, 490mm and 690mm and only one height of 1800mm.  Outputs from 1815 BTU’s to 7402 BTU’s.

  5. sgg Thermovit Elegance – new generation.

    November 19, 2012 by Antony

Saint Gobain has recently brought out the next generation of sgg Thermovit Elegance Diamant clear glass radiators, and The Glass Radiator has been involved with some of the changes that were made.

Two years ago the Managing Director of the Glass Radiator Company went over to the factory in Germany to see the developments and changes that were planned. The new development is a more robust paneled radiator with slightly different circuit design in the inter-layer film and the development of a new wireless control system.

The development is a natural progression in improving reliability and quality in the production process and is fact the new model of the sgg Thermovit Elegance.

The new wireless controller is simpler to operate and resembles a more conventional heating system controller, and the wireless technology with it has been thoroughly tested in Germany as you would expect before being released to the European market.

    New receiver options.

There are two types of receivers, an in-wall receiver which can fit inside a wall cavity and be completely hidden from view, or if this is not possible the an ‘on’ wall receiver is available where the radiator supply can be connected to.

    HRGA3 Inside wall cavity receiver

    HRGA3 Inside wall cavity receiver

HGRA2 sgg Thermovit Wall mounted receiver

    New Programming unit.

The unit is simple to program and defaults to a set number of programs that can be changed. One controller can operate any number of radiators, but in the same way the old one works, it measures the temperature of where the unit actually is. So it needs to be in the center of the room with radiators spread around it in order to measure the ambient room temperature properly. Although it will still work if you stuff it in a drawer, it will measure the temperature inside the drawer and switch the radiators on and off accordingly.

    sgg Thermovit Elegance Controller

    Other electric radiators.

We are so pleased with this controller that we offer it with our grc Wave, grc Treesse electric, and our new grc Radart electric (coming shortly)

Are the old controllers still available?

The short answer is no they are not, and the old receivers and transmitters will not work with the next generation of sgg Thermovit controllers. As the Glass Radiator Company is the only company that is allowed to change the electronics on the panel in the UK, there are still some possibilities that may be able to be done depending on what any possible issue is. The trick is to pick up the phone and talk to us.

We do not actually get many problems in relation to the amount that we have actually sold, but we take each issue seriously and report back to the manufacture so they can continually improve the product.

  9. In the Published Press.

    October 30, 2012 by Antony

The Glass Radiator Company in the Press.

Over the last few months we have been having more exposure in build magazines where journalist have been sourcing information about new and interesting radiators that may be of interest to people wanting to do things on their house.

We have supplied radiators to celebrities and supply a few yacht building companies that have well know clients, but we thought we would dig out some old copy and replicate them here so you can see that we produce products that these magazines want to show their readers.

We have not paid for advertising in any of these magazines, they are articles put together by the magazines for their readers.

We have more to add which we will do so in due course.

  10. Changes to grc Wave pages on the website

    October 20, 2012 by Antony

We have made some changes to the grc Wave pages to show more customer photos, rather than studio shots. We do think these are more relevant and real for potential customers to see as there are many photoshop type photos on the internet today. Please find below the amended pages which of course can also be seen on the website.

    grc Wave Designs

grc Wave red – customer image

We originally discovered the grc Wave product to the UK market and started selling them in 2009, and are the original supplier for the product.

The glass is quite thick at 13mm, the glass has square corners with no visible fixings on the front so it gives a clean uncluttered look. The fixing brackets are hidden behind the panel onto a steel plate that is bonded across the back of the glass with the heating element in it. In comparison to some other types of solid colour radiators the product feels like a good quality product without any compromise in quality.

The other attribute is that the mirror version is available, as well as some options made from solid marble.

We can provide a wireless control version which uses the same controller as the Thermovit.  The  remote controlled is the best option to have as it maintains room temperature. The temperature required in the room is programmed into the remote control unit which may fix to a wall, and this unit will vary the output of the radiator in order to maintain the room temperature.

Customer photo grc Wave black with towel rail

Customer photo grc Wave black with towel rail

The remote controlled version is also cheaper to run as the radiator will switch off if not required therefore saving energy.

Care must be chosen to select enough radiator panels to heat the correct amount of space in the room, it is always better to have more radiators than to few, as then the remote control unit will be able to maintain the ambient room temperature more easily than the to few radiators being on at maximum all of the time.

    Solid colour glass panels

    grc Wave green

    grc Wave green

Glass radiant panels are intended primarily for the heating of living spaces, the grc Wave radiators are produced from 13mm thick tempered glass, a heating element, a limiting thermostat and a supply cable.

grc Wave Glass panel with a Towel Rail

The grc Wave panel with a towel rail is intended for bathrooms, where they fulfil not only the function of a dedicated radiant heater but also of a very stylish hand towel dryer. The optional chrome towel rail is for hanging a hand towel or bath towel. The towel rail is only available in a couple of sizes and so can only be used vertically /portrait and not horizontally.

grc Wave black with towel rail

    grc Wave mirror version.

The mirror version is our best priced mirror, all of the styles are available with or without the towel rail, so it is ideal for a bathroom. The customer below however wanted to use the mirrors to maximize the light in his main living room and so put two of the larger sizes we do side by side and the end result is very effective.

The marble panel is made from 3cm of polished marble board. The panel is intended for fixed installation on a wall. As it is a natural material, deviations in the colour or in the structure make each radiator unique. It is possible to hang the panels width-wise or height-wise; mounting brackets are included within the price.

    Wall Mounting.

The grc Wave is designed to be wall mounted and has a special plate fixed to the back which houses the brackets. There are no surface fittings at all.

This customer was concerned about the strength of his stud wall and so made a steel bar bracket to run across the plasterboard, with the brackets fitting through it. The larger radiators are quite heavy so this was quite a good idea. The  fixing strap is completely hidden behind the radiator.
